During Sunday’s episode of BBC Countryfile, presenter John Craven made a heartfelt announcement thanking viewers for their support of the show’s annual charity calendar appeal.
The episode featured presenters Adam Henson and Charlotte Smith exploring efforts to protect Devon’s Exe Estuary. Charlotte joined the harbourmaster on the water and spoke with a local birdwatcher who recently spotted a rare species not seen in the area since 1985. Charlotte also highlighted the issue of domestic abuse in rural communities with a powerful feature on whether current laws effectively protect victims.
Adam visited a newly established nature reserve where fallen timber is being used to boost biodiversity, showcasing innovative conservation work.

Towards the program’s conclusion, Charlotte paused to remind viewers that the Countryfile calendar, supporting BBC Children in Need, is still available for purchase. John Craven then appeared on screen to share an uplifting update: “A minimum of £5.50 from each calendar sale goes directly to BBC Children in Need. If you haven’t bought yours yet, they’re on sale until January 31st.”
He continued, “I’m delighted to announce that so far, the 2026 Countryfile calendar has raised an incredible £1,776,082 for BBC Children in Need. On behalf of all of us, a huge thank you to everyone who has bought a calendar and helped us reach this amazing total.”
Fans took to social media to share their enthusiasm, with one user tweeting, “I’ve just bought my Countryfile Calendar #countryfile. You can still order online and the money goes to BBC’s Children in Need!” Another echoed the sentiment with excitement about their purchase.
In 2025, calendar sales raised over £2.3 million for the charity, and this year’s edition features the theme ‘Wild Encounters’. Each month showcases one of the 12 finalists from the Countryfile Photographic Competition, celebrating the beauty of the natural world.
Countryfile continues to air every Sunday at 6pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, highlighting important stories about the environment and rural communities.
