The Great British Bake Off’s beloved judge, Prue Leith, appeared on This Morning on May 9 alongside her husband, John Playfair, to chat about her latest cooking series, Prue Leith’s Cotswolds Kitchen. The show invites viewers into Prue’s Cotswold kitchen, where she prepares some of her all-time favourite recipes, with John making frequent appearances.
However, the conversation soon shifted to a bold fashion moment from last year. In September 2024, Prue swapped her classic style for an audacious black latex ensemble at London Fashion Week, taking to the catwalk for designers Vin + Omi’s 20th anniversary show. The striking look featured a skin-tight leather dress with red stitching, long latex gloves, bright red lipstick, spiky short hair, and dramatic black eye makeup.
Host Alison Hammond asked John how he felt about Prue’s daring outfit. With a smile, John offered a cheeky ten-word reply: he “wanted the costume to go in our dressing up box.” The revelation prompted Alison’s surprised follow-up, “There’s a dressing up box? Which one is that in?”

Dermot O’Leary complimented Prue’s striking appearance, to which she blushed, admitting, “You can’t take him anywhere.”
Prue also explained how the fashion opportunity arose, recalling her chance meeting with designer Omi on a train. “That night, I told John, ‘We’re going to dinner with these two guys I met on the train,’” she said. Vin + Omi are not only talented designers but also advocate for sustainability in the fashion industry. “Their mission is to help companies become more sustainable, while designing incredible clothes. I’ve now walked for them, as they say.”
When Alison praised her catwalk skills, Prue laughed, “I can’t do that classic model’s walk where they put their hips forward and look bored. But I gave it my best shot!”
