Gloucester City’s manager, Daf Williams, was elated following his team’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Tiverton Town on Tuesday night — a much-needed response after Saturday’s disappointing loss to Uxbridge.
City set the tone early, with Kane Simpson blazing down the right flank just two minutes into the match. His precise finish into the bottom left corner gave Gloucester an immediate advantage. Momentum continued to build when a penalty was awarded in the 15th minute after Keiran Thomas appeared to be fouled in the box. Joe Hanks confidently stepped up to convert and double the score.
An early substitution saw Aaron Wildig replaced by Ed Williams, who made an instant impact 23 minutes in. His cross surprisingly sailed over the goalkeeper and found its way into the net, pushing City’s lead to three.

The second half showcased relentless Gloucester pressure. At 58 minutes, a beautiful cross from Sion Spence found Simpson, who tapped in for the fourth goal. The scoring spree continued in the 85th minute with MacKenzie Stretton, netting his first goal for City following a brilliant move orchestrated by Simpson.
To cap off an extraordinary night for Simpson, he beat his marker and fired a clinical finish in the 89th minute, completing a perfect hat-trick and sealing the 6-0 rout.
Reflecting on the win, Williams expressed his satisfaction and praised the team’s resilience. “I wasn’t happy on the weekend. I was furious after the last two games, but tonight the players took ownership and delivered an outstanding performance,” he said. “We always aim to start fast, and the players set that tone early, which was crucial. We challenged them on character, mentality, and attitude before the game and at half-time — and they responded brilliantly.”
With six games left in the season, Williams issued a heartfelt message to Gloucester’s supporters. “We need an all-in mentality. During tough times — like the recent bad days — it’s vital to stick together and support the team. Don’t turn on the group because they’re giving everything. My biggest message: stick with the lads.”
