‘Avoid’ A40 near Cheltenham after multi-vehicle crash

Police have advised motorists to steer clear of a stretch of the A40 near Cheltenham this morning, Wednesday 9 September, following a collision involving several vehicles.

The incident occurred shortly before 7am on the section of the A40 between Northleach and Andoversford.

Emergency services attended the scene, and one individual was conveyed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with a suspected head injury.

A road closure remains in place at the junction with the A436 as the incident continues to be managed.

Gloucestershire Police have urged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to minimise disruption.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police stated: “A serious collision has led to a road closure on the A40 near Andoversford this morning. We received reports shortly before 7am that multiple vehicles were involved between Northleach and Andoversford. One person has been taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment of a suspected head injury. Emergency services remain on site, and we advise motorists to avoid this area.”

The police are also appealing for witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers to come forward. Information can be submitted online using incident reference 68 of 9 September via the Gloucestershire Police website.
