A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident involving a screwdriver at a building site in Purton, Wiltshire.
The incident occurred this morning, Thursday, July 23, at the Widham Gardens construction site. Wiltshire Police were alerted at 11:05 am after reports of a man being stabbed.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition. Authorities arrested a 36-year-old man, who was known to the victim, on suspicion of attempted murder. Additionally, a second 36-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A police cordon remains in place at the site as the investigation continues. Officers have stated that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the attack, describing it as a targeted and isolated incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Deb Hatch commented, “This serious attack has left a young man fighting for his life. His family have been informed, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. We have arrested two individuals connected to the incident and are not currently searching for others.
“I want to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident with no wider threat. We will increase police presence here over the coming days to maintain safety. If anyone witnessed the event or has concerns, please contact us.”
