A unique opportunity awaits collectors and design enthusiasts as rare artwork and custom-made furniture from Ready Token House—better known as the ‘Omaze Cotswolds’ property—are set to go under the hammer near Cheltenham. The former contents of this celebrated British country house will be featured in the Modern Art & Design sale hosted by Chorley’s auctioneers, located in the heart of the Cotswolds.
One of the standout lots includes a collection of 12 original paintings by the distinguished British artist Edward Seago. Renowned for his role as the official coronation artist for Queen Elizabeth II and his global travels with Prince Philip, Seago’s works are highly prized by collectors worldwide. Among the pieces is a preparatory oil study for the iconic 1953 portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II on horseback at her birthday parade, accompanied by two preliminary pencil sketches from Seago’s own sketchbook. This rare set, used to create the famous official portrait commissioned by the Coldstream Guards, is estimated at £15,000-20,000.
The auction also showcases elegant designer furniture from Ready Token House, epitomizing modern Cotswold sophistication. Highlights include a substantial B&B Italia sofa and stool with an estimate of £3,000-5,000, alongside a Max Rollitt Sargeant sofa estimated between £1,500-2,000.
