A 28-year-old woman was arrested in Gloucester on Friday, May 16, following reports that she threatened members of the public with a bread knife in St Mary’s Square. The incident occurred around 3:40 pm when the woman approached two females, demanding their mobile phones. After they refused and attempted to walk away, she chased them, prompting them to flee.
The woman was also reported to have threatened a third individual in the area. Armed police quickly responded to the scene, conducted a thorough search, and apprehended the suspect on suspicion of robbery and possession of a bladed article. The bread knife was recovered by officers.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. Inspector Ash Gardner of the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team assured the public that swift action was taken to address the incident. “We received multiple reports about a woman making threats to members of the public. Our officers responded promptly and made an arrest. We are committed to ensuring safety and will not tolerate behavior that causes fear within our communities,” Gardner said.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the event and has not yet spoken to the police to come forward and provide information by contacting the Constabulary online and referencing incident 314 of May 16.
