Andrew Flintoff Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles After Top Gear Crash

Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff recently revealed his struggles with anxiety and mental health following a life-changing car crash on the set of Top Gear in 2022. Speaking to former England captain Mike Atherton, Flintoff discussed his initial reluctance to return to public life after sustaining severe facial injuries.

Recalling his experience as an England coach in 2023, Flintoff disclosed that he battled anxiety, taking “10 goes to leave my bedroom” on his first morning. He mentioned feeling overwhelmed when encountering fellow cricketer Ben Stokes in a hotel lift, emphasizing his struggles with anxiety and worry during that period.

Despite his initial difficulties, Flintoff expressed gratitude for the support he received from his colleagues and the cricketing community as he gradually found his footing. Reflecting on the impact of the accident, he shared, “It’s amazing what an accident can do.”
