“Ambitious” Cotswolds Canal Restoration Invites Volunteers to Revive Historic Waterway

The Cotswold Canals Trust (CCT) is calling on more volunteers to join its ambitious effort to restore the historic canal stretching from Saul Junction to Lechlade. This inspiring project aims to breathe new life into a vital Gloucestershire waterway, preserving an important part of the region’s heritage for future generations.

Supported by over 350 active volunteers and a membership exceeding 6,000, the Trust operates various facilities including three visitor centres, two charity bookshops, two depots, and four boat trip bases. These hubs provide numerous opportunities to get involved.

Volunteering with the Trust offers a wide range of roles suited to different interests and skills. Whether you want to engage in outdoor environmental work, support community outreach, assist in retail, or mentor young people, the Trust emphasizes that “there’s a role for everyone.” You can even help steer historic workboats, contributing directly to the canal’s restoration.
