Amazon to Open Major New Warehouse in Gloucester, Creating 100 Permanent Jobs and Hundreds More for Drivers

Amazon is set to open a new state-of-the-art delivery station in Gloucester, more than four years after the initial plans were announced. The facility, located at Centre Severn in Barnwood, is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of August.

The new Amazon Logistics centre will span 11,400 square metres and serve customers throughout the Gloucestershire area. In an update from the original estimates made in 2021, Amazon has confirmed it will create approximately 100 permanent jobs, a significant increase on early projections. Beyond these full-time roles, hundreds of additional opportunities will be available for drivers working with Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) and Amazon Flex.

Prajvin Prakash, Amazon Logistics’ country director, expressed enthusiasm about the new facility: “We’re really excited to be launching this site, investing in Gloucester, and creating jobs for the workforce here. Delivery stations play a crucial role in the last mile of Amazon’s order process, enabling faster deliveries and providing a seamless customer experience.”

Starting pay at the Gloucester site will be £13.50 per hour, translating to an annual salary of over £28,000 for full-time employees. Amazon also offers competitive wages, private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, and an employee discount, ensuring a comprehensive benefits package for its workforce.

This new delivery station represents a significant investment in Gloucester’s economy and underlines Amazon’s commitment to expanding its logistics network to improve delivery speed and customer satisfaction.
