Amanda Owen Shares Heartwarming Family Update and Opens Up About Personal Struggles

Amanda Owen, the beloved Yorkshire Shepherdess from the hit series Our Yorkshire Farm, has shared a touching family update that highlights her pride in her hardworking children. At 51, Amanda continues her demanding life on Ravenseat Farm alongside her former husband Clive and their nine children, who have all grown up under the public’s watchful eye.

The family first captured hearts when their busy rural life was showcased in a Channel 5 series starting in 2018, which quickly became one of the network’s most cherished programs. Following its success, Channel 4 launched Our Farm Next Door, a ten-episode series that chronicles the family’s efforts to restore a 200-year-old farmhouse in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales.

Despite the cameras often being present, Amanda frequently connects with fans through social media, sharing glimpses into daily farm life. On December 16, she posted an uplifting message on Instagram featuring her sons Reuben, Miles, and Sidney, along with close friends Myles Capper and Sonny Billington, all hard at work on the farm.

Amanda wrote alongside the photos: “The future is bright. Hi vis all the way! So proud of them all @reubenowen74 @myles.capper @billingtonsonny @milesowen86 @sidowen3. But if there was one thing that I didn’t need it was a high vis tup! Apply ruddle colour to tup cautiously, just a wipe.”

Fans responded with warmth and admiration in the comments. Many noted how much the children have grown and praised the whole family’s dedication. One admirer wrote, “Wow Sidney growing up and driving, wonderful family,” while another wished them a Merry Christmas, saying, “It’s scary how grown up they are all looking. Happy Christmas to you all.” Admirers also lauded Amanda and Clive as exceptional parents who have raised remarkable children.

Beyond this joyful update, Amanda opened up about her personal battles, including her struggle with an eating disorder following a painful relationship breakdown. In an interview with the Mail, she described how her mental and physical health suffered simultaneously, saying, “I just shut down. Physical and mental health are intertwined and anxiety, depression, paranoia, agoraphobia and an eating disorder were all smooshed into one.”

She also revealed the harsh realities of public life, recalling online abuse over her weight loss. Amanda shared, “I remember sitting in the sheep pens in the dark, just hiding. It’s the price you pay for living your life in the open, for being observed. It’s like having a post mortem before you’re dead.”

Through honesty and resilience, Amanda continues to inspire many with her strength both on and off the farm.
