Amanda Owen Calls Family Gathering ‘Momentous’ as Renovation Update Marks New Chapter

The much-loved series Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids aired the final episode of its second series on Tuesday evening, spotlighting the ongoing journey of the Owen family as they renovate an 1800s farmhouse in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

Since first winning viewers’ hearts in 2018 with Our Yorkshire Farm, the Owen family—Amanda, Clive, and their nine children Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine, and Nancy—has remained a steadfast favorite on British television. Although Our Yorkshire Farm concluded in 2022 following Amanda and Clive’s separation, their story continues through this compelling follow-up series.

Our Farm Next Door follows Amanda, Clive, and their large family as they breathe new life into Anty John, a historic property near Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale, named after a former owner, Anthony John Clarkson. The farmhouse has become a symbol of renewal and resilience for the Owens.

In this momentous episode, Amanda gathered her entire family at Anty John for a candid update on the renovation, now 20 months underway. Despite the demands of the lambing season, she emphasized the importance of pausing to reflect on their progress together.

Amanda shared, “There’s a lot going on but we have managed to make time today to gather everybody, the whole family, to come to Anty John. So this is quite momentous really. There’s a little bit more warmth, things are greening up a little bit, so it’s all about new life and new starts and all the rest of it. So I guess that ties in very nicely with Anty John as that’s certainly a new beginning.”

During a family picnic on the farm, Clive remarked, “Ay, it looks well now, doesn’t it?” while catching up with friends Richard, Kelly, and David on site. Amanda reflected on the renovation as “a huge learning curve,” acknowledging both how far they’ve come and the work still ahead.

Adding a touch of humor to the gathering, a family member joked about the potential for the house to fall into ruin again, to which Amanda replied firmly, “No it will not ever be a ruin again, if Reuben moves in, yes it will become a ruin again!”

Looking forward, Amanda revealed that renovations are advancing steadily. “Work is continuing and we’re forging ahead. It’s like we’re nearly onto the next stage. Once we’ve got the plaster on and the floor done, there’s no reason why some of this stuff [the furniture] can’t go up there,” she said, inviting her daughters to help with interior design decisions.

The episode concluded with a tantalizing “to be continued…” message on Channel 4, leaving viewers eager for what the next chapter of the Owen family’s story will bring.
