A confrontation in Tuffley resulted in the arrest of a 50-year-old man after he allegedly punched and headbutted a police officer. The officer, fortunately, sustained non-serious injuries. The man has been released on bail while investigations are ongoing.
The incident unfolded in the Seventh Avenue area of Tuffley following earlier reports of a disturbance. Upon locating the individual of interest, the situation escalated into violence, prompting the call for additional law enforcement support.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire police stated, “Officers were on patrol on Seventh Avenue, Gloucester at around 11.30am yesterday (Tuesday 1 April) when they saw a man who they needed to speak to in relation to an incident that had been reported earlier. After the man became violent, officers called for back-up. One officer was punched and head-butted but not seriously injured. A 50-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour. He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.”
