Fans of All Creatures Great and Small rejoiced last year when Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) made his much-anticipated return to Darrowby, following his departure at the end of series three to serve in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Despite the support of student vet Richard Carmody (James Anthony-Rose) to Siegfried (Samuel West), viewers missed the witty banter and dynamic between the Farnon brothers.
This season, Tristan smoothly reintegrated into village life, delighting audiences who cherished his sharp humor and vibrant spirit. Now, the actor behind Tristan is teasing even more promising developments for the character.
In a recent interview with Masterpiece, Callum Woodhouse expressed his vision for Tristan’s future: “I want Tristan to carry on exactly how he is — holding on to his spirit and energy, but also learning to buckle down and focus when needed. He’ll continue to stand up to Siegfried, not through aggression, but with confidence in who he is. And when he’s worked hard, he can enjoy a well-earned night at the Drovers.”

Woodhouse also hinted at a potential romantic storyline, adding, “I’d like Tristan to maybe find his Helen, which would be nice. Whether it’s someone we know or a new character, there’s a lot he could give in that regard.”
Earlier this year, Woodhouse told Express that he plans to continue playing Tristan as long as the storyline “makes sense.” He noted, however, that the show may diverge from historical events: “In reality, Tristan moved on from the veterinary practice to work in agriculture, but the show might keep him involved with the practice to maintain his presence.”
Although the release date for the upcoming series hasn’t been officially announced, filming is underway. In February, Samuel West shared a photo from the set on Twitter, sparking excitement among fans eager for the next chapter.
