Fans of All Creatures Great and Small were thrilled last year when Tristan Farnon, played by Callum Woodhouse, made a heartfelt return to Darrowby after his character’s time away serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. His absence had left a noticeable gap, even as Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) was assisted by the student vet Richard Carmody (James Anthony-Rose). Viewers missed the lively and witty dynamic between the Farnon brothers that added charm to the show.
In the latest season, Tristan’s comeback was seamless, instantly rekindling the vibrant energy that fans love. Now, Woodhouse has hinted that Tristan may be around for a while longer, with new storylines on the horizon. Speaking to Masterpiece, Callum expressed his hopes for the character’s development: “I want Tristan to carry on exactly how he is—holding onto his spirit and his energy, but knowing when to focus and step up when needed. I see him standing up to Siegfried, not aggressively, but with a confident sense of self. And, perhaps, finding his Helen—whether someone familiar or a new face. Tristan definitely has a lot to give in that regard.”
Earlier this year, in an interview with Express, Woodhouse confirmed his commitment to continuing with the show as long as the storyline felt authentic: “In real life, Tristan moved into agricultural work away from the veterinary practice, but the series might take a different direction to keep him involved. As long as it makes sense, I’m happy to stay on.”
While no official release date for the upcoming series has been announced, filming is actively underway. Actor Samuel West shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Twitter earlier this year, sparking excitement among fans eager to see the next chapter unfold. Social media buzzed with enthusiastic reactions: “Brilliant, can’t wait!” “Yippee!! My favourite show… especially with Siegfried,” and “Fantastic news, looking forward to it,” were among the many comments.
All Creatures Great and Small continues to be available for viewing on My5, delighting audiences with its blend of heartfelt stories and picturesque countryside charm.
