Alert: Flood Warning in Gloucestershire

In a recent update by the Environment Agency, a Red Flood Warning has been issued for the Gloucestershire-Wales border. The warning, indicating immediate action, is a result of anticipated high tides in the Wye Estuary at Brockweir, Forest of Dean.

Despite the absence of recent rainfall and no forecasted rain in the upcoming days, the warning is due to the expectation of high tides over a three-day period, beginning on Saturday. This heightened risk of flooding will be in effect for an hour before and after the high tide, potentially impacting properties and roads, including garages at Brockweir.

Emergency response personnel have been inspecting defenses, urging people to avoid contact with floodwater, with the situation under continuous monitoring by the Environment Agency.

Additionally, flood alerts, signifying possible flooding, have been issued in Gloucestershire, connected to the high tide, encompassing parts of the Severn and Wye.

The alert forecasts the potential of flooding in various areas, spanning from Sandhurst to Chepstow and Sharpness, alongside low-lying land and roads adjacent to the Severn Estuary. Locations at risk include defensed riverbank areas and low-lying land at Purton on the east bank, along with watercourses draining into the Severn Estuary.

Similarly, a flood alert pertains to the anticipated high spring tides over three days, with potential flooding affecting low-lying land and roads near the Wye Estuary from Redbrook to Chepstow.

This article serves as a vital warning to those in the affected areas and emphasizes the importance of preparedness and caution.
