Brian May, the legendary guitarist of Queen, provided ITV viewers with an important update on his health during his recent guest appearance on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.
The 78-year-old musician has been candid about the health challenges he faced last year following a minor stroke, which temporarily left him unable to move one of his arms. Describing the experience as “scary,” Brian revealed how unexpected the incident was but expressed relief that he has since regained mobility.
Alan Titchmarsh expressed his concern for Brian’s wellbeing, saying, “We were concerned, you had a bit of a stroke. But, you seem to be fully recovered, that was last year.”

To which Brian responded, “I’ve had a number of things, Alan, yeah, the stroke was one of them. I’ve been lucky, I get these things, but I seem to be able to get out of them. They give you a wake-up call.”
Brian emphasized that such health scares have motivated him to adopt positive lifestyle changes, including increasing his physical activity and improving his diet. “I keep moving, I do my biking a lot of times a week. I do a hundred lengths in the pool once a week. To me, that’s what’s keeping me going. That’s what’s keeping me alive.”
He added with a smile, “I have proof! I have all the bloods that they do and all the evidence that we get and they go, ‘you’re doing the right things Brian’. So, for now, I’m still here.”
Alan expressed his happiness at Brian’s resilience, saying, “We’re delighted you’re still here. We’re glad to have you with us here.”
Supporting Brian through his recovery is his wife, actress Anita Dobson, who shared her perspective in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph. She praised Brian for diligently following his medical advice, stating, “He takes his tablets, does his exercises. He’s a good boy.”
When asked if she needed to remind him about his medication, Anita smiled, “Sometimes with the tablets. I’m not often dictatorial but it’s important, because it’s his life.”
Brian May’s openness about his health journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the importance of resilience, self-care, and the support of loved ones during challenging times.
