Mac is an endearing one-and-a-half-year-old dog from Gloucestershire in need of a permanent home after spending the majority of his life moving between kennels and foster placements. Currently in the care of the RSPCA South Cotswold and Gloucester District Branch, Mac found himself in kennels due to circumstances unrelated to any fault of his own.
This lively and intelligent crossbreed has been selected as one of 13 special pets for Agria’s Rescue a Rescue campaign, now in its fifth year. The initiative aims to shine a light on animals across the UK awaiting loving families.
Mac is bold, active, and thrives when engaged with purposeful activities. He would greatly benefit from a patient adopter who can provide a calm, safe environment where he can decompress and settle at his own pace. With his outstanding recall ability, Mac promises to be a loyal and entertaining companion for an owner ready to forge a truly special bond.

Agria highlighted Mac’s qualities, saying, “With fabulous recall, Mac will be a loyal and fun companion for an adventurous owner with whom he can create a truly special bond.”
The campaign’s announcement coincides with recent figures showing that approximately 250,000 cats and dogs remain in UK rescue centres awaiting their forever homes. Since its launch in 2021, Rescue a Rescue has spotlighted some of the UK’s most overlooked rescue animals, addressing the surge in pets entering shelters following the pandemic-related pet ownership boom in 2020.
To support the campaign and provide vital funds to rescue organisations, Agria will donate £1,000 to each participating centre, totalling £12,000.
Dr Scott Miller, TV vet and Agria ambassador, emphasised the importance of such campaigns: “Every day I see just how many wonderful animals are still waiting for a second chance in rescue centres. This is why campaigns like Rescue a Rescue are so important. Not only is Agria helping rescues by donating £1,000 to each centre, but also helping the animals who desperately deserve homes receive the spotlight they deserve.
My hope is that not only will all 13 highlighted animals find forever homes, but that the nation as a whole is inspired to visit their local rescue centres and discover the wonderful pets waiting to find their families.”
The expert panel selected a total of six dogs, five cats-including a bonded pair-and two horses for the campaign. By raising awareness of the urgent need to rehome rescue pets across the UK, Agria hopes to secure loving homes for all the Rescue a Rescue animals.
