Adam Henson, the beloved Gloucestershire farmer and longtime Countryfile presenter, has opened up about his future beyond his broadcasting career. Having joined the show in 2001 after a nationwide talent search, Adam’s TV presence has since grown to include appearances on programmes like Nigel and Adam’s Farm Kitchen with Nigel Slater, BBC One’s Inside Out, and regular contributions to Radio 4’s On Your Farm and Farming Today.
Despite his success on screen, farming remains at the heart of Adam’s identity. He runs Bemborough Farm, which also operates as Cotswold Farm Park—a popular attraction drawing over 70,000 visitors annually. Adam and his business partner Duncan took over the farm tenancy in 1998 from his father, Joe, and though television has been a large part of his life, he says farming will always define him.
Speaking on the Talking Farming podcast, Adam candidly shared, “I love being a farmer. If the day comes when TV drops me in the bin, we still have our tourist enterprise connecting with the public. ‘Farmer’ will always be on my passport.”

Looking further ahead, Adam has revealed that his children have chosen different career paths and show little interest in taking over the farm. His daughter is an events organiser in Perth, while his son works as a financial advisor in Leeds. Recognising their talents but respecting their choices, Adam said to the Daily Express, “While I loved chasing my dad out the door to join him on the farm, my children aren’t keen on farming as a career.”
With his tenancy on the 650-hectare farm set to expire in 12 years, Adam plans to move with his wife, Charlie, to a bungalow nearby in Winchcombe. There, they’ll maintain a few acres with some sheep and their dogs, allowing them to remain close to the countryside they cherish. “It will be the end of an era, but I will still enjoy the lovely countryside,” he notes.
Adam also expressed his enduring awe for the stunning Cotswolds landscape surrounding his home. “The rolling hills, especially on crisp mornings when mist rises from the valleys, are absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes, I have to pinch myself and realize how lucky I am to live here,” he said on the podcast.
Fans can catch Adam on Countryfile at 5.15pm today, where he will introduce a new rare-breed pig to Bemborough Farm, continuing to share his passion for rural life with viewers everywhere.
