Adam Frost has revealed his belief that Monty Don will not be leaving Gardeners' World even after his most recent contract runs its course. Despite Monty’s mention of potentially stepping back from his role within the next five years, Adam remains optimistic about Monty’s prolonged stay with the show.
The 69-year-old lead presenter, who has been a part of the show since 2003, hinted at shifting his focus towards other endeavors last year. Adam highlighted that the rotation of presenters may provide Monty with the flexibility to explore his personal ventures while continuing his involvement with the gardening program.
In response to speculations about Monty’s potential departure, Adam emphasized, “He won’t leave, no. I reckon there’s been conversations about Monty leaving for about the last 10 years. Every two years it comes around, ‘I think he might leave now’ he won’t leave, he’s alright.”

Acknowledging Monty’s renewed commitment to the show, Adam noted, “Monty renewed his contract for the show in January 2025, agreeing to another two years.” Despite Monty’s honest reflections about his periodic uncertainties, he expressed that he genuinely enjoys his role, particularly due to the convenience of filming at his own garden, and intends to continue if the program maintains its high quality.
While fans rejoiced at the news of Monty’s continued involvement, disappointment arose when he announced a hiatus from live shows for at least two years. Monty’s assurance of returning after this break has left viewers eagerly anticipating his future contributions to Gardeners' World.
