Adam Frost reveals wife worries more than him about new Gardeners' World garden

Adam Frost, the beloved presenter on BBC’s Gardeners' World, has opened up about the challenges and changes involved in filming in his new, smaller garden. Unlike their previous three-acre 18th-century farmhouse garden, the current space is far more modest in size — a shift that initially made Adam nervous.

Despite his concerns, fans have warmly embraced the change. Many appreciate the more relatable garden size, similar to most viewers’ own outdoor spaces. Adam explained to The Sunday Times that his wife, Sulina, tends to worry more than he does about revealing any imperfections during filming.

“It’s just me, my wife, and our daughter handling the garden and filming,” he shared. “I was nervous about sharing our new garden because it’s smaller, but viewers find it more relatable.”

Adam also described the collaborative nature of the show, detailing how he and co-presenter Monty Don coordinate their content. “We plan a few days ahead to avoid overlaps. I don’t mind showing off our weeds — Mrs Frost worries more than I do,” he joked.

He fondly referred to the Gardeners' World team as an extended family, appreciating the unique privilege of working in his own garden and then returning indoors after filming.

Earlier, Adam revealed his family’s decision to downsize their home and garden, aiming to spend more quality time together. “I realized my life was chaotic, so we scaled back to give me more family time. That means a smaller garden, but it’s the right choice,” he said.

Beyond gardening, Adam has been candid about his ongoing health battle with fibromyalgia. He shared that for 20 years, he endured widespread pain, exhaustion, and sleepless nights before finally receiving a diagnosis. Despite these challenges, he remains active and passionate about gardening.

Adam is set to appear later today on BBC One’s review of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, continuing to inspire viewers with his gardening expertise and heartfelt storytelling.
