‘Abnormal load’ escorted through Gloucestershire causing potential traffic delays

An “abnormal load” is scheduled to pass through Gloucestershire on Monday, 27 July, during the lunchtime period.

The large container, measuring approximately 4.4 metres in width and 30 metres in length, will be escorted by police from Coleford to the M5 motorway. The journey will begin as the convoy leaves The Mushet Industrial Park, proceeding along Crucible Close before joining the B4228.

According to Gloucestershire Constabulary, the load will then continue via the A4136 and the A40. Upon reaching the Elmbridge Court roundabout, it will exit onto the A417, eventually joining the M5 southbound at junction 11A to continue its onward journey towards Southampton.

Police have advised that while efforts will be made to minimise traffic disruption, motorists should anticipate potential delays, especially as the convoy passes through roadworks on the A40 at Over. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and to avoid the route at the specified times if possible.

No additional details have been provided regarding the contents of the container being transported.
