Abbey Clancy Sets Ground Rules After Feeling Ignored by Husband Peter Crouch

Abbey Clancy has revealed a strict rule she enforces with her husband, former footballer Peter Crouch, about staying in touch when he is away from their family. During an episode of their podcast, The Therapy Couch, the couple candidly discussed their relationship dynamics and responded to listener questions.

Abbey expressed frustration over what she calls Peter’s “bare face lying” during his recent golf trip. While she supports his passion for golf and wants him to enjoy his time, she made it clear that honest communication is non-negotiable. She recounted how Peter went on a golf day before traveling to Ireland, ignoring her texts and spending the day out of contact. Abbey joked about their established rule: “Just text me, check in.”

Peter defended himself by saying she knew where he was and who he was with, but Abbey humorously countered that she had actually been tracking his whereabouts. Suspicion grew when Peter responded to a 3 a.m. message about their son Jack being sick, prompting Abbey to question why he was awake so late. She also referenced a friend on the trip who was last active on her phone at 4 a.m.

Peter laughingly labeled Abbey a “private detective.” He admitted he had woken up to check his phone while up for a glass of water and confessed to bending the truth about being asleep to avoid upsetting her. The couple’s open exchange highlighted the importance they place on truthfulness despite the teasing tone.

Peter shared his own “weekly whine,” recalling how he spotted Abbey’s face on a bus advertisement as soon as he arrived home. Abbey joked about having “eyes everywhere” but quipped, “no one wants a bus sized me.” She also caught Peter telling another fib about still being in Ireland when he was actually back recording with Rod Stewart.

Through their playful but honest dialogue, Abbey and Peter demonstrate a strong bond based on humor, transparency, and mutual respect—even when navigating the challenges of time apart.
