Drivers attempting to bypass the road closure on the A417 near Gloucester face fines of up to £1,000. The A417 at Maisemore has been closed since Monday, February 16, due to significant flooding between the A40 and The Rudge.
Despite clear signage, some motorists have been driving through the closed section and floodwater, prompting warnings from Gloucestershire County Council Highways. The council reiterated on their Glos Roads X account that anyone ignoring the closure may be prosecuted.
While the majority of drivers have complied with detour signs, authorities emphasize the dangers and legal consequences for those who do not. Additional road closures remain in place across the county as flooding impacts multiple routes.
