A38 Junction Near Gloucester to Close for 10 Nights, Major Diversions in Place for M5 Access

A critical junction on the A38 near Gloucester will undergo resurfacing work resulting in a closure lasting 10 nights. The closure affects the A38/A430 Bath Road at Hardwicke, specifically Junction 12, disrupting normal access routes to the M5 motorway.

The affected section includes a northbound closure of the A430 between the Quedgeley Interchange and the Bristol Road roundabout. Southbound closures are set between the Quedgeley Interchange and Stonehouse. This will impact slip roads to the M5, as well as key local roads including the A430 Bath Road Hardwick (towards Northbound Slip) and B4008 Bath Road.

Drivers heading southbound will encounter diversions extending over 10 miles, routing traffic southeast from Hardwicke through Whitminster and Stonehouse before looping back via Standish. Northbound motorists will face detours of approximately 15 miles, traveling past Gloucester along the A38 to Barnwood before reconnecting to the M5 at Junction 11A (Hucclecote).

Clear diversion signage will be posted along the M5 and A38 ahead of the closures to assist drivers in navigating the temporary routes safely and efficiently.
