A Place In The Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has candidly shared the significant challenges involved in moving her family to Spain amid the renovation of their new home. The process, which will be featured in an upcoming 15-episode Channel 4 series titled Jasmine’s Renovation In The Sun, has proven to be far more complicated than she initially anticipated.
The 49-year-old mother of two explained, “I underestimated the amount of upheaval involved in moving to Spain with the family and our dog. On top of that, buying the house was more complicated than usual. Normally, my house hunts proceed smoothly, but this time the conveyancing was a struggle. And now we’re in the middle of a complete renovation. It’s utter chaos.”
Filming the renovation has added an extra layer of pressure on top of the enormous task. Jasmine and her husband Jon, along with their two young children, are dedicating a year to turning the property into their dream family home. “Renovating in another country brings its own set of challenges,” Jasmine admits, “and having cameras around certainly adds to the stress.”
Despite this, she remains upbeat, joking, “It’s all fun and games here… though there’s never a dull moment, and quite a bit of plate spinning. Small jobs like removing a wall or changing the kitchen are straightforward, but our renovation is a much bigger project, especially as we’re living in the house during the work."
Their decision to live in the house during renovations was out of necessity. Jasmine explained, “We couldn’t afford to do the entire renovation beforehand or rent somewhere else, so this was the only option.”
As the series documents their journey, viewers will witness the highs and lows of turning a house into a home under challenging circumstances — all while the family navigates the realities of relocating abroad.
