21 Net Zero Carbon Homes Proposed for Kidnappers Lane, Leckhampton

Plans have been submitted for 21 new homes on a 1.74-hectare site off Kidnappers Lane in Leckhampton, on the outskirts of Cheltenham. The land, previously a garden nursery and paddock, is currently overgrown with bramble, willow scrub, and grassland.

Newland Homes Ltd has lodged a planning application with Cheltenham Borough Council for the construction of zero carbon homes. The development will include eight affordable dwellings and a variety of housing types, from one-bedroom bungalows up to five-bedroom houses. The design features a mix of detached, terraced, and semi-detached properties, ranging up to two and a half storeys to create a diverse roofline.

The site is conveniently located near High School Leckhampton, the upcoming 350-home Greenway Chase development off the A46 Shurdington Road, and benefits from frequent bus services and other local amenities.

The application highlights several advantages of the development: addressing the council’s current shortfall in five-year housing land supply, meeting the policy requirement of 40% affordable housing, and offering economic and social benefits through construction jobs and new community housing. Infrastructure improvements, open space, and landscaping are also included, with two main access points planned from Kidnappers Lane.

Residents and interested parties can view the full application, reference 25/01073/FUL, on the Cheltenham Borough Council planning portal.
