Early this morning, a significant quantity of dynamite was discovered on a farm near Cheltenham. At approximately 10:50 AM on Thursday, May 8, Gloucestershire Police were alerted to the presence of 140 sticks of dynamite stored in an outbuilding on a Chedworth farm.
Authorities believe the explosives are around 40 years old. Due to the potential danger, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was promptly dispatched to safely manage the situation. To protect residents and farm workers, a 200-metre safety cordon was established around the site.
The dynamite was carefully relocated to a nearby field where a controlled explosion was carried out to neutralize the threat. Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the detonation was successful and that the safety cordon has now been lifted.
